Jimmy Hager was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, but grew up in Charleston, South Carolina. He has been a working musician and an actor for more than 50 years. Starting at age 10, Jimmy taught himself to play tenor sax, then went on to learn flute, blues harp and to sing.
From his first gig at age 12 throughout the 60’s and 70’s his bands, the Vistas, Soul, Inc., and Freedom and Freeway, opened for dozens of wellknown rock and soul artists including Jerry Lee Lewis, Lou Rawls, Wilson Pickett, Rufus Thomas, Chicago, Poco, the Allman Brothers and Janis Joplin.
Now fully retired from the music business, he focuses his time and energy acting for stage, film and television, and writing a series of historical fiction novels. Jimmy lives on Lake Murray in South Carolina with his lovely wife Joanne and the couple’s black and white, spoiled rotten, English Cocker Spaniel, Berkeley.
