Stephen attended four years at Central Michigan University and University of Arizona studying art, sculpture, photography and architecture. During this time he hitchhiked across America with a backpack and a camera.
He decided to attend Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara to pursue a career in photography. Steve soon discovered film making and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Motion Picture. Upon graduating, Mr. Thompson moved to Wilmington, North Carolina.
He has worked out of Wilmington and New York for the past 23 years and raised two beautiful daughters. Stephen has traveled extensively during that time filming in Thailand, Greece and the Czech Republic for George Lucas as gaffer, Visual Effects D.P. and Second Unit D.P. He served as Second Unit D.P. under director Barry Sonnenfeld on “Big Trouble” in Miami.
“The 27 Club” is Stephen’s fourth feature film. He very much enjoyed the unbridled creativity and filmic vision of director Erica Dunton.
